Why Fundraising MattersFor more than 40 years, White Mountain Community Center has been a place where older adults can find a good meal, a familiar face, and a sense of belonging. Our fundraisers help us keep that welcome open. As a nonprofit, we rely on community support to sustain senior services and respond to needs that cannot always be covered by grants or other funding. The funds raised at our events support the everyday work that makes a difference in a senior’s life: preparing and serving nutritious meals, offering activities that encourage movement and friendship, providing helpful information, and maintaining a comfortable place to gather. They also give us flexibility when food, utilities, supplies, and building costs rise. That flexibility helps us care for the people who count on the Center while making room for new programs shaped by what our seniors tell us they need. Fundraising is about connection, too. When neighbors attend an event, donate an auction item, sponsor a program, or volunteer their time, they become part of a community that looks out for its older members. For a senior who lives alone or has limited opportunities to get out, a shared lunch or afternoon activity can be a meaningful part of the week. Every contribution helps us create more of those moments. We are especially focused on welcoming younger seniors while continuing to serve those who have been part of the Center for years. Their interests and needs may differ, but everyone deserves opportunities to stay active, make friends, and feel valued as they age. Your support helps White Mountain Community Center remain a warm, inviting space where seniors across our area can find nourishment, companionship, and the chance to thrive.
